DECKLINK QUAD 2 x3 on MAC PRO M2 TOWER

PostWed Jul 17, 2024 10:41 pm

HI,
Wondering if anyone here has ever used any number of Decklink Quad 2's in a Mac Pro M2 Tower? im working on a Resolume Arena Rig and wondering if this might be a viable option to possibly run 24 sdi outputs, or even if someone has run just 8 sdi outs successfully. I first started with a PC design, but with that id need to have an RTX 4080 [for rendering etc] and then i can run like 1 deck link quad before i run out of PCIe lanes. [decklink quad 2's require 8x] The mac pro m2 has 24 lanes open for the PCIE slots so technically i 'should' be able to run 3 decklink quad's.... but we all know how specs go. thanks for any wisdom:)

It should be able to. I know that's not the answer you're looking for, but it's within specs. That being said I think the more limiting factor is probably what software interface can realistically handle that much I/O. There are obviously high end entreprise software solutions but off the shelf there's nothing available for Mac like vMix (although honorable mention to Mimo Live).
