Hi All
We just moved into a new building and I've been testing our fiber lines between two control rooms. The distance is probably no more than 2000ft (one floor down) I'm encountering a really random issue with noise and loss of signal. The feed is rock solid for hours at a time and then will randomly start with audio cracks and digital noise (old school snow) in the image. It gets worse and worse until the feed drops all together. It'll pop in and out for a bit, then go back to being solid for another random amount of time. When the feed drops, the mini converter on the receive end still has the light for the fiber connection being "fine."
I've been pulling out what's left of my hair trying to determine if it's noise in the fiber line itself, or is it an issue with either of the converters. I've got 8 of them and have tested 4 (2 on each end) and it makes no difference so far. Ive tried both of our pairs (4 fiber strands total) and it makes no difference.
The setup is a 1080i SDI feed from the house (that's clean and been checked) to the 12g mini converter, fiber out....(single mode fiber)....12g mini converter to SDI and into our Tricaster TC1.
Below is a quick YouTube video I shot of the issue. The "snow" is hard to see but it's a good example of what I'm running into. Hopefully someone has seen this issue before. This is my first time working with fiber so I'm kind of at a dead end.
Thanks so much!
