I am trying to setup a streaming "studio" that I will attempt to describe and hopefully someone will be able to let me know if it is possible.
We are doing outdoor presentations The presenter will have a microphone (possibly hooked up into the Camera below) We have a Black Magic Studio Camera 4k Pro G2 We have SDI cabling to the production trailer We want to use the Atem HD8 to receive the Video and audio, while pushing the audio back out to powered speakers for the audience We then use the PGM out HDMI to feed into a capture card then a PC that will livestream the production
I'm curious if this is the way, we were thinking we could simply run the speakers from the 1/4 analog outs on the back of the HD8. My concern is will this end up producing a lag in the presenter speaking into the mic and the sound coming out of the speaker. Unless there is a different way to run this that makes more sense.
Thank you for the reply. We have a studio sound mixer, but we're hoping to eliminate it from the setup. We aren't doing anything that requires quality sound as it's simply a person with a microphone giving a morning report to fire crews outdoors. The simpler we can make it work without any latency or out of sync issues the better. Thanks again!
I do know there is a very small lag with microphone->atem microphone converter->hd8 iso->sdi monitor with speaker but nothing that would put a presenter (me) off. I would have thought that your suggested set up would have roughly the same lag so would be OK. Perhaps just give it a try ?
A couple of frames of delay is all it takes for it to be difficult to speak. There’s a natural responce to speaking and hearing your own voice byaaaaaack. For PA it’s not so bad, for monitoring it’s tough, if you can push through it more power to you.
