How to import video files to the hyperdeck ssd drive.

Our school has a Hyperdeck 4 in our studio and wants to start airing newscasts. The Hyperdeck would be used as a playback for recorded news stories. We want to upload the news stories directly to the SSDs so they can be played on cue.

We are having a problem getting the files to the Hyperdeck SSD drives. The drives are two Angelbird AV Pros drives, 1 TB each. We wanted to use FTP but our IT department won't allow it, so we are looking for a direct approach that is not FTP. So how do you transfer your files directly to the SSD drives?

I've searched the internet for a while now and I can't seem to get a clear answer. One suggestion was to format the drive as exFAT (I am using Windows 11), connect the SSD drive to a computer, and drag the files onto it. Does this sound right? There are two SD card slots next to the SSDs, could we put the files onto those cards and then transfer the files from SD to SSD using the ATEM software?

Any help or insights would be most appreciated. Thanks!

You’re gonna have to use FTP. Chaotic good approach is to just run your own local network between some computers. You should be able to get a link local address on a switch with no internet on it, and then plug the switch into your own device (2 NICs) that has the files on it. IT wouldn’t approve, but how would they know…

Thank you guys, I appreciate the help. Unfortunately, IT is still a nogo on the FTP :( Roman, your suggestion gave me an idea and put me on the right track. I found an old drive dock that had slots for SSD drives. I dropped the files on my computer desktop from a portable disk drive and transferred the files I needed to the SSD drives in the drive dock. Once finished, I popped the SSD drives back into the Hyperdeck. It was so simple that I completely missed it, of course. Thanks for the feedback!

Best,

Don
