Why cant BMD support their screw ups?

PostWed Sep 04, 2024 9:44 pm

I have called in for troubleshooting assistance regarding a 7" VF tally issue.....
If you are familiar with these, there are 3 tally areas. Front, Rear and a third rear under the hood.
So after after a busy summer of just dealing with it, i finally dug into this issue.
There is a riser terminal of 4 pins that connect to the 3rd tally led pcb. From J2 BMDPCB460B to J1 BMDPCB460B. There are literally no solder tabs for the riser pin to solder to, nor any trace of solder on it.

I called trying to order a replacement pcb as we are out of warranty by 6 months.
Only solution sent the entire thing in.

Anybody else have issues trying to order parts ?

in more detail....
There are 3 tally lights on the 7" VF. Front (which talent sees) Rear (which operator sees) and a 3rd which operator sees if the sun screen is installed.

The 3rd led bar never lit (never brought to my attention until this past april)
Since its out of warranty, i took it apart to find the J2 riser pin ( the 4 stagard blank spots) which connects the front/rear LED board to the 3rd LED board, was not soldered...nor upon further inspection, no capability to be soldered as no copper traces or pads were to be found.

My issue is they wont send (or sell me) the board so I can make this work.
Spending money to send the entire unit in for repair would cost more than the board itself.

Does anyone have a number for strictly parts...all I get is them trying for a RMA# and wanting me to return the entire device
