However, one thing I've been long thinking about if you don't want to go the SMPTE 2110 route, is using SDI to Fiber converters, and you can buy different SFPs in different wavelengths from FS.com. Then you can Mux the fiber into a single fiber connection, send that over, then demux it to multiple connections and convert back to SDI. I think if I remember right CWDM supports 18 channels.
Of course you could do this with SMPTE 2110 as well and have 2 100gbe over a single fiber, but it might just be easier to get a fiber line with 2 pairs.
I've never tested this, just an idea I've had for a while.
Yes, that would be the traditional approach. I was hoping ST2110 would have offered a more unified solution like building one network connecting everything to everything.
+ the big advantage of being able to deliver power.
The biggest argument towards a network (cable) based solution would be, that most of the venues we are working in have cat7 cables already preinstalled in some areas.
