Hi guys,

we're looking for a solution to connect multiple cameras with a distant switcher with only ONE cable.
2110 IP looks interesting but needs one cable per camera, correct?
With all those new tools: Is there a way to build one rack with multiple inputs for the cameras and one output that goes to the switcher or another breakout box before serving the switcher?
Can I connect two ST2110 IP Blackmagic Ethernet Switches 360P by one cable and exchange all signals on that one connection?
The conventional solution would be a multicore fiber cable connection two breakout boxes.

P.S.: Is the 2110 update for the Studio Camera Pro out already? I remember the announced release to be within the next few weeks in the NAB 2024 presentation.

I thought the opposite. That 2110 IP could be sort of a 'Digital Snake' for video.

I think that would work as long as the 100gbe connection doesn't max out. Sounds like the 12G 4k signals are compressed down to 10gbe so it'd give you 10 connections each way.

However, one thing I've been long thinking about if you don't want to go the SMPTE 2110 route, is using SDI to Fiber converters, and you can buy different SFPs in different wavelengths from FS.com. Then you can Mux the fiber into a single fiber connection, send that over, then demux it to multiple connections and convert back to SDI. I think if I remember right CWDM supports 18 channels.

Of course you could do this with SMPTE 2110 as well and have 2 100gbe over a single fiber, but it might just be easier to get a fiber line with 2 pairs.

I've never tested this, just an idea I've had for a while.

Yes, that would be the traditional approach. I was hoping ST2110 would have offered a more unified solution like building one network connecting everything to everything.
+ the big advantage of being able to deliver power.
The biggest argument towards a network (cable) based solution would be, that most of the venues we are working in have cat7 cables already preinstalled in some areas.
