Presentation Room Equipment Suggestions

PostThu Sep 19, 2024 6:06 pm

I’m setting up a new prestation room at work and could use some advice on the best equipment to help us route, switch, and convert the audio/video signals. The room will seat about 20, with a control desk off to the side. The content will be coming from a PC, for simple video playback, and a Mac running Avid for live edit or color sessions. I’d like to have a couple of connections in the seating area in case anyone needs to show content from their laptop.

At least 12 different people will need to use the desk, so I'm hoping to keep things as easy as possible, maybe using a streamdeck to control and simplify the switching.

Most of the content will be 4k at 23.976 or 29.97fps with stereo audio, so all equipment will need support that or better. Below is a list of sources and destinations. I have some thoughts on how to handle most of it, but there could be better ways. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Video and Audio Sources:
Mac Studio – For live edit/color sessions
PC – For presenting motion work
Guest Laptop A – HDMI cable available for guests to share their screen
Guest Laptop B – USB C to HDMI cable available for guests to share their screen

Video only Destinations:
Reference Monitor
Presentation TV

Video and Audio Destinations:
HDMI(I think) to Microsoft Teams Box

Audio only Destinations:
Left Powered Speaker (XLR Connection)
Right Powered Speaker (XLR Connection)
Left Powered Subwoofer (XLR Connection)
Right Powered Subwoofer (XLR Connection)
