BM2110 3x3G / Mars 400S Pro II

PostSun Nov 24, 2024 6:21 pm

I have a few sets of Hollyland Mars 400S Pro II.

I go SDI from my camera to the transmitter.

I take SDI out of the receiver. If I plug into and SDI monitor, I see the camera with no problem.

If I take SDI out of the receiver and go into my Black Magic 2110 3x3G converter, I get no image.

During troubleshooting, I found if I come HDMI out of the wireless receiver, into a BM HDMI > SDI mini converter, then into the 2110 3x3G, I get the camera.

I cannot figure out why going right from the Hollyland receiver via SDI into the 3x3G does not work.

Are you running 1080p50/59.94? If so this could be a 3G-SDI Level A vs Level B issue potentially - though in 2024 this feels less likely?

The 3x3G doesn't include whether it's Level A, Level B or both in its tech specs - but do you know which your MARS II Pro receiver is outputting - if you are running 3G 1080p?

From the Hollyland hardware is commonly known they use a cheaper SDI Serialiser chip which is NOT SMPTE compatible. It does NOT send the correct Identify flags for 1080 P50/60 and so a LOT of hardware will NOT accept the SDI signal from the HollyCrap hardware!!

A decimator MD HX will solve your issue on SDI level as it does accept HD signals without the correct flags and makes a proper signal from it. ;)

Thanks for the info... So, I can come out of my camera into the Decimator SDI in and right back SDI out?

SDI from the Mars receiver > Decimator MD HX Scaler on. ( not scaling but because you need processing on the SDI out.) Otherwise it will just route the signal to the sdi output.

And that will clean up your signal and put the correct info into the signal so the 2110 converter will know what kind of signal it is.
