Software Control issues on new Mac Mini M4

PostThu Dec 12, 2024 5:29 am

We have upgraded to a Mac Mini M4 running macOS Sequoia and both version 9.6 and 9.5.1 of the Software Control app do not load and connect to the Atem Mini Extreme unless the software is re-installed fresh each restart. We have tried restarts. We have tried cold starts. The SetUp app can see the Atem Mini Extreme and its IP addresses, but the Software Control will not detect the Atem inless we re-install and then it works perfectly. We have tried with DHCP and fixed IP addresses. Same outcome. Does anyone have further suggestions please.

We have an update on this. We have seen this and determined it is an Apple issue that has been reported. The workaround that doesn’t involve reinstalling the software is:

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > Disable and then re-enable ATEM Software Control

Works for both network connection, and USB. Hope this helps in the meantime.

Hi Warick and Gary
I have followed both sets of advice including installing 9.6.3 and the Security changes.
Some wins, some no wins.

I installed 9.6.3 but this DID NOT resolve the problem. On re-start, I had to again re-install 9.6.3.

I followed your suggestion (Security/Network/local on/off) and that DID work to avoid re-installing, but does not resolve the bigger issue. It still fails on res-start and requires me to do the on/off each time.

So we have a more simple solution to avoid re-install but there still seems to be the bigger unresolved issue. I look forward to Blackmagic coming up with a more robust solution.

Had same issue - Updated to latest version just released .2 of macOS Sequoia and the issue seems resolved. After the system came up, launching ATEM Software Control as well as Companion, it asks for permission for each to find devices on the network and answering 'yes' brought both up. Did a complete shutdown and tried again, and no longer asks for permission, software just works.

Experiencing the same issue here with multiple video flypacks running Constellation 8K ATEMs with Macbooks as ATEM control laptops. These system also heavily use StreamDecks via Companion. The on/off toggle in the Local Network settings resolves the issue everytime, but must be done everytime the Macbook is booted. We have upgraded one of the Macbooks to latest OS 15.2 - problem still exists. This is an Apple issue and it has surface on dozens of Forums.

The following thread sheds more light, and one user offers the template for an Apple Script that can be loaded into the boot sequence to automatically do the network toggle thing on every boot. Or - just wait for Apple to fix this . . . . or go to a PC!
