Hello, I have a question about the Black Magic Ultimatte 12 HD. I am dealing with the purchase of BM hardware for the studio, specifically I want to buy three Black Magic Ultimatte 12 HD for three cameras and connect them to our hardware chain from BM (atem, Multiview 16 and so on). I need to know if I connect the Ultimatte to Ethernet, do I have to connect the SDI cables to it and those to the source of the layers (computer) in order to be able to control the G / H Matte, Background ? All our devices are connected to the NAS via Ethernet. Can I send these matte layers and the background, without the need for SDI cabling?

A few things here.

1) Read the manual, it is well written and will answer all of those questions.
2) You can control the Ultimatte through software via ethernet however any real-time images need to be sent via the SDI inputs
3) Some mattes can be imported into the system as image files and can be used to block out what you are looking to do.

Finally, before you start investing in this type of set-up you really should read the manual. It will save you a lot of frustration...and expense.

Hi jallen0, thanks for your reply. Before I wrote on the forum, I went through the manuals (Ultimatte 12 / Ultimatte Ethernet Protocol), but what I was asking was not specifically written anywhere. So thank you once again for the answer.
