Decklink Quad HDMI Recorder - Auto Detect Input changes?

For example, the device works when I have something plugged into it and I select that signal.
However, when I unplug that HDMI cable and plug in a new device, it doesn't automatically detect the change and I have to manually select it.
The same occurs if I have an HDMI switch, it won't auto-detect any input changes.
Is this normal?
