Intensity Pro composite output

PostFri Feb 14, 2025 7:26 pm

Hello,
I just got the Intensity Pro (2007) card, and I'm trying to get it to just output composite video. It seems unneccesarily difficult, and the internet isn't much helpful. Is there just a way to click a button and have it broadcast out composite video, so I can click record on my VCR and get digital video onto it. I have installed it correctly, and it is displaying composite input. Unless I've misunderstood, it seems well within the specification to be able to output composite blindly.

Many thanks,
Harry.

Got it working.
Have to use it as a video preview out. So in Resolve I set the monitoring output to be 720x576, and then I had to use another capture card to be able to monitor what was going on with it. Then I just played the timeline. Probably not the most ideal, and I'll be checking it and hopefully it's a frame perfect copy.

Blackmagic Media Express should playout compatible files to the Intensity Pro I believe. The video will need to be in a compatible codec and wrapper - but may be better quality than using timeline replay in Resolve.

You'll have a greater choice of codecs on a Mac than a PC in Media Express (though may need to install Apple's Pro Codecs separately if you don't have FCP or Compressor installed to get ProRes etc.)
I think the PC version supports a couple of uncompressed standards and BMD's MJPEG. Exporting from Resolve for playback in Media Express may be a good workflow for this.
