ATEM Camera control over return video

Hello,

New to the forum and to the BM ATEM gear. I have an extensive background in live production system design and Integration and am trying to help out a local church with a small streaming system. We have a small 1-ME ATEM switcher and two different URSA broadcast cameras. Both are wired with a return video line for shading control and possibly Reference. Currently each camera receives its own output as return video (not super useful), RCP control works fine, etc.

My question; is it possible to route either PGM or another camera to the Ret. video input and maintain the RCP control? Maybe I am missing something simple? For instance Cam 1 would get PGM or Cam 2 in the return video.

Any thoughts welcome,

Joe

The Output of the Ursa cameras do send out CCU control data.. Only the Atem does.

So yes you need to send an PGM out from the Atem to each camera as return.

You might use a DA to run the signal to multiple cameras That is fine.. Since the Camera control and Tally data for all cameras is included into the PGM feed.

Daniel, thanks for the reply. Good to know that PGM out includes control data for all cameras in the VANC. I was not clear in the manual so this saves some time testing. I did a little digging after reading your post, it sounds like they embedd all control data in all ATEM outputs which is helpful.
