Dual DeckLink 8K Pro Mini Capture Card

PostFri Mar 14, 2025 7:14 pm

I'm in the process of building a vmix desktop computer with DeckLink 8K Pro Mini Capture Cards. This computer will be running vMix and will need the capability of eight 4k input/outputs. Is it possible to have two DeckLink 8K Pro Mini Capture Cards installed for this capability? What considerations should I take in the PC build? Will vMix be able to see each of the 8 SDI connections as individual inputs/outputs? Any limitations of having all 8 ports active at 4k resolution?

TIA

Hi Brett

Pay attention to your requirements; there are several things to keep in mind.

Each DeckLink 8K Pro Mini card requires a PCI-E x8 slot on the motherboard.
So, if you need two or more similar cards, you'll need to choose the right CPU and the right motherboard.

You`ll need a minimum number of PCI-E lanes for your configuration, and the corresponding CPU + motherboard with "enough" physical PCI-E slots and "enough" Pci-E lanes over each slot.

I hope help.

After Intel stopped X processors , there is problem to get enough pci lanes for this .. Maybe any XEON processor ..

Yes Roman That's right, I agree.

Desktop CPUs, like motherboards, are currently "limited" in terms of PCI-E lanes and slots.(Market /target)

For a workstation that requires multiple cards, is "jump" to XEON or Threadripper.
