Settings for ATEM Constellation Talkback to Clear-Com 4 wire

PostThu Mar 20, 2025 1:55 pm

I have an ATEM Constellation 2M/E and Clear-Com BS410 base station. The BS410 has the RJ45 4 Wire connection. I’m wondering what I need to do to connect that to the ATEM’s Talkback RJ45. I’ve connected them with an Ethernet cable, but I don’t know the exact settings to make them work. No sound goes between the two.
Is there a setting I’m missing? The ATEM Talkback is 4wire, is it not? Supposedly bringing audio in and out on analog signal?

Connecting an Ethernet cable will not work. You need to carefully look at the pinout for inputs and outputs and rewire accordingly. I recommend cutting an Ethernet cable and putting XLR connectors on the pairs in such a way you can connect outputs to inputs. That provides flexibility in testing and use. I hope this helps.

This seems like something that should be an option in ATEM settings because 4 wire is pretty standard, right? That’s a lot of fiddling to try to make it work.

The 4 wire interface is pretty much standard. Unfortunately the connectors and pinouts are all different. Connector types can vary within the same vendor due to space and layout considerations.

I wouldn't bother with XLR either, just wire up a Cat6 with a couple RJ45s, might take all of five minutes. Just label the cable so it doesn't get lost or mixed in.

Good Luck
