Atem Mini Pro ISO for educational setup

PostFri May 02, 2025 4:55 am

I’m putting together a new video system for an educational setting and would like to confirm that what I’m proposing will work. I need to feed multiple HDMI monitors during classes and meetings and record the inputs and the switched program. My plan is to use an ATEM Mini ISO for switching between cameras and recording. I would like to be able to input 2 PTZ cameras, 1 tripod camera and one computer through the 4 HDMI inputs. I would use the HDMI output to a multi-view monitor and use an ATEM Streaming Bridge’s HDMI output to feed large classroom HDMI monitors.

Are there any compatibility issues here? Is it ok to use the ethernet ports (running through a POE Switch) for both the PTZ control and Streaming Bridge? Anything I’m missing here?

Thanks!

I think you'll be good with this, if you can afford the Extreme I think it's worth the upgrade because it has a headphone jack, extra HDMI out and extra USB. I know the 8 inputs might feel like overkill but it's a better switch. Then maybe you wouldn't need the bridge depending on where the projector is.

I think the old version is still available too at B&H.

As far as running the control over the same network as the PTZ cameras, I don't think that should be an issue. We have 3 ATEMs with 11 PTZ cameras (as well as a bunch of other equipment) all on the same network and don't have any issues.

Getting the extreme sounds like good advice. My biggest fear with the extreme is the overwhelm of all those buttons for the teachers/TAs I'll have to train to run the system.
