Hello everyone,

i would like to know some information before eventually buying one these model ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD or ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K

Is one of these ATEM capable of scaling, in resolution and frame rate, the input sources ? If yes is there enough for each input ?

Context:
Our main matrix is in 1080i50hz, and we have to attach multiple sources like laptops or players in HDMI for presentation purpose. After correctly configuring the ATEM, if I connect to it various sources each (1080p60 and 1080p59.94 and 720p50 and ... ) can I be sure that I'll always have the picture at 1080i50 without any more intervention on the configuration of the ATEM ?

In other words, can one these ATEM be used as presentation switcher ?

Thanks

Yes, the ATEM Constellation series does have format conversion - on every input, no licensing etc needed. You might not like the look of the deinterlacing, depending on content, but you will at least have picture. On the tech specs, this is listed as "standards converted 12G-SDI inputs": https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... s/W-APS-40

As for actual use as a presentation switcher, you might often interface with projectors, LED walls etc that don't necessarily want to receive 1920x1080. If so there are more suited options out there, but none in the same price class that I'm aware of.

Yes, but, I'm not sure I would rely on the ATEM to output great interlaced video - others can chime in on that workflow. Anecdotally, it seems many people have gripes when using contemporary BMD gear in interlaced workflows.
