Micro converter SDI to HDMI 12G LUT problem

PostMon Jun 23, 2025 12:29 pm

I'm having a weird problem with 12G SDI to HDMI Micro Converter (not bi directional).

I want to use it as a LUT box. Take s-log via SDI, apply LUT, return 709 via HDMI, show on the preview monitor and/or send to the streaming/mixing device.
When I load the LUT (with the laptop connected) the image looks fine. But only until I restart or disconnect and connect the converter. If I disconnect USB and connect it again (doesn't matter if it is the same laptop or AC adapter, or power bank) it starts to show bright yellow/green areas on the picture as totally black. Everything which is above a certain level. So the green screen, for example, would go totally black.

As soon as I repeat uploading process and load the same (or any other) LUT – everything is fine until the restart.
I'm sure the problem isn't in the LUT, device does it with any LUT loaded in it and this particular LUT I'm interested in behaves very well in the editing suite. I've tried all the combinations of converter settings (legal/illegal range, enable/disable LUT for loop) – doesn't change the output.

So, basically, I can have the pipeline I want only if I use the laptop to power the converter and reload LUT after the power disconnect.

Appreciate any thoughts on how to solve.
