MADI on television studio 4k8

PostMon Aug 11, 2025 12:46 pm

Hello, I'm using an ATEM Television Studio 4K8 with an ATEM microphone converter connected to the mixer's MADI input. Currently, I have three Rode microphones. However, in the audio mixer on the console itself and in the virtual mixer in the software, these three microphones are now displayed as two: the left and right channels on MADI 1 and the left channel on MADI 2. How do I get the console (where can I find a setting) to recognize the three individual channels as mono channels—MADI 1, 2, and 3—and not as split stereo channels? If I understand MADI correctly, it only sends one channel for each mic, which is then interpreted by the receiver (here, the ATEM console) as either stereo or mono.

Thank you for the quick reply, but I've now found the solution to the problem (the one you mentioned didn't work because it didn't change the detection of MADI input signals). The solution was that the firmware update to version 9.8.3 didn't work properly. The software was on the correct version, but the firmware wasn't. After reinstalling, the MADI input signal was immediately recognized correctly and provided as one channel each. Now, even a converter cascade with 18 microphones works perfectly. Sometimes the devil is in the details.
