Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Blackscreen

PostTue Aug 19, 2014 1:34 pm

Hi.

We purchased an Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 and I have gotten it to work with Windows 8.1 on a Dell Optiplex 3020 with Media Express. Ultimately we want to output video and audio from a camera connected to the shuttle using HDMI into Zoom (zoom.us) for a class that has remote students. The shuttle shows up as a video option however it only displays a black screen on the computer, the video pass through does display what the camera is capturing just like it does when I use media express. I have also tried with Skype and ManyCam with the same results. I have also connected everything Surface Pro with the exact same results. The camera’s video mode matches what is set in the control panel options.
Have anyone else experienced something similar and have found a fix or workaround?

Thanks!

If you have it working in Media Express and can see a picture on the capture window then it's working. I know that certain versions of Skype don't work as MS changed the way it sees certain devices, I can only assume that he other software is either set up wrong or is not able to communicate with the Shuttle properly.

I have the same problem. I think the issue is somehow directly between zoom and the HDMI aspect of the driver software for the Intensity Shuttle. If I use composite input it works fine. Also I've gotten the HDMI to work by using OBS Studio and the virtual camera plugin which I then select in zoom. Does anyone else know how to get this to work without using some kind of middleman software? For my purposes I'd much rather having the option to go without OBS Studio, even just for the simpler setup. The issue should be consistently reproducible as I've had the same problem on multiple computers and with different cameras all attempting HDMI input through the Intensity Shuttle to zoom. Would really appreciate some feedback on this.

I know this question was asked many years ago, but I broke out my Intensity Shuttle for quarantine times, and had the same issue. I was going through a decimator which was scaling my output. With an atomos ninja output, the Intensity Shuttle into Zoom was working just fine. But my laptop was not. I hadn't changed a single setting on the decimator (scaler) so it should've continued working without a problem.

But... the problem was with the reference Timecode. Zoom is very particular about its clocking/reference.

So... by setting my timecode to Free Run instead of Source, it began playing well with Zoom!

Hope this helps!

FYI: I was using the Thunderbolt version on Mac, but since it's not a mac specific issue, i think this should help!

Josh,

Does the signal have to be decimated?

I can get it into zoom setting the Intensity input scaling to HD-SD but no native HD signal works.
Not any combo of 1080/720 60/24/30

I am assuming the intensity is throwing too much data at the zoom in terms of colorspace...but i dont really know

Joshua: Were is the timecode settings? On Blackmagic or Zoom - i looked but did't find them. My camera works in Blackmagic. Zoom lists Backmagic but I only get a black screen in Zoom.

Roger, timecoding would be at source and is camera dependent ie some cameras have free run option
