Aux and Program Output

PostWed Jun 03, 2015 7:19 am

we are planning to buy a video mixer for our temple. however one question we faced was weather there will be any delayed signal to the source i am sending the signal. if anyone can clear up this point.

secondly, since 1m/e has three AUX output, so can we send the same signal to all AUX output at the same time. secondly is there a way to send a program output rather than a RAW signal. also it too has 3 program output, hence are the program output mirrored or we can select what can go out of which program channel.

Thanks

Delay is 1 frame and aux buses are freely asignable. as you need .. program outputs are "mirrored" ..

The normal delay are Up to 1 frame.
If you are using the Dve or supersource you will get 1 frame more each.

The normal delay are Up to 1 frame.
"Up to" !! This is the maximum delay (without DVE).

Thomas.
"Up to 1 frame" = 1 frame or less.

thanks Roman, so i guess you can select freely the output on AUX. Also with less than one frame delay,as mentioned by other members, with you experience how noticeably is that in a live event. as my output will be in the small hall/room where the event is taking place and the audio to the hall is from the another audio mixer.

Less than one frame is not noticeable. But you may get additional delay behind the mixer... Video projections mostly have noticeable delay. Did you ever have seen a TV show, where between live image and background projection is no delay ?

Looking at ATEM TVs and ATEM 1M/E, can anyone point out if there is any difference between them in ways of their capabilities and functioning in live transmission, other than 1m/e has more outputs and inputs.

1M/E has better audio options (XLR in).
TVS can only take embedded SDI/HDMI audio or you have to use a device like Mini Converter Audio to SDI 4K to inject audio from the sound desk if required.

We use BlackMagic hardware and other video mixers at sporting stadiums. The time it takes for an RF camera on ground to get up to the control room and go through receivers, CCU, the vision switcher and then back to the screen. It is anywhere from 5 to 15 frames of delay depending what stadium. Therefore the radio microphone needs to be given the same delay so when you hear the person speak and look at the screen, audio is in sync. Some stadiums the speakers are so far away, sound being slower than light then helps us a bit in minimising the delay to the microphone.

This is why anthem singers and performers in an in the round stadium will always have wedge holdback and in ear monitors.

It is very common for any sort of signal to have a delay the more the signal goes through devices or the length of cable.
