I use a Roland V-1600 switcher for live event projection. I'm thinking about buying a second one, but I realized the ATEM family is much cheaper. I've never used an ATEM, so I'm wondering if it would work out. Does anyone have experience with both products who can tell me the practical differences? What I've noticed so far:
Roland can accept non-broadcast resolutions, such as XGA, WXGA, etc.
ATEM's multiview and Photoshop plugins are awesome features
Roland has several component video inputs instead of just one
In general, ATEM seems to have a much more robust feature set, yet it's half the price (comparing 1 M/E switcher + panel to the V-800HD). What am I missing?
