UltraScope Working in Windows 10

PostFri Jan 06, 2017 7:41 pm

Hi All,

So after much fun and games attempting to upgrade our scope PC from Windows XP :geek: to windows 10. our only concern was, Is Ultra scope going to work.

Simple answer "Yes" but getting there, that is one hell of a ride.

After installing Windows 10 in both X86 and x64 flavors, and installing from version 1.5 to 1.8.3 of the ultrascope software; the machine refused to see the hardware. (error code 45 - Hardware not installed)

I had all but given up and was looking for a Windows 7 installation disk to try and see if we could at least upgrade that far. We got back to the machine to find a request to update the firmware of the card. So somehow, Windows 10 finally saw the hardware.

I then decided i must be missing something and searched the forums for Ultrscope issues.

I found the following thread - Can't update Firmware UltraScope Card

But specifically this response

regardless of the highest options in the power settings, you computer must be in the High Performance mode, which is normally hidden, when you go to the Power Options in the control panel, you will need to click on the little drop down menu to reveal it.

So i decided, What the hell, it is a quick test, lets try that setting and see what it does; and to both of our UTTER amazement; IT WORKS!!!

Here are the details

Windows 10 x64
UltraScope 1.8.3
Intel E5300 Duo 2.6GHz CPU
Genuine Intel Motherboard(USB 2 Only)
Nvidia 9800GT GPU
4 GB DDR2 800 Ramm
ONE TICK BOX SELECTED "High Performance" under power options.

Hope this helps anyone else trying to use their UltraScope PCI device in a Windows 10 PC
