DVI Extender 3G Question

Hi,

I have been using the DVI extenders since their release for getting SDI out of my computers.

Obviously the device supports 3G SDI because it says so on the front, i'm just wondering why I cant find 1080p in the list of selectable resolutions.

Is it simply an EDID thing? Would I be able to output 3G formats if I forced the issue with a custom resolution? Any partocular timing settings I need to use for the DVI extender?

Kind Regards, Tom

Okay, so are you asking for 1080p60 or are you wondering why 1080p doesn't show up in extender mode.

1080p60 is not there as we haven't added support for it. The device is a 3Gb device, but that doesn't mean we support all 3Gb formats. In the case of the DVI Extender we use the extra space in a different way so that the extender modes signal can pass through a 3Gb router.

If you're wondering why 1080p doesn't show up in extender mode its because when we released the product there was not a lot of call for 1080p computer signals and we assume (not ideally) that if you are using 1080p30 you are using the device in Video mode.

I hope this helps clarify the info.

When will support for 1080p be added?
I owe 4 units and this will be a much desired ability in the rental industry I work in.

No one from Black Magic is able to commend if there is a possibility?

We typically don't comment on product roadmaps, sorry!
