Hello,

Just curious if anyone is using the Blackmagic Camera as a permanent TV studio solution for news, talk shows and the like. And can it be compared to say a an EX3 or HM750 setup?

No. first of all. You can't connect the camera to the video mixers from BMD. The camera's output 1080P while the Atems only support 1080I.

Or you should upgrade to all 4K camera's.

Then you have no control like shading, whitebalans and those things from a distance.

It is a Cinema Camera Not a Studio camera..

Would love to see BMD come with a Studio / Live camera for your ENG setup. That is 1 thing i really miss in the product range.

Indeed, that would really make them put the market upside down again. There is a big hole to fill within the market when it comes to camera's within a studio setup.

They just announced that the BMCC firmware 1.3 is released. It has interlaced SDI output and so it will now work with the ATEM mixers!!

Just Great news! Still be aware that a BMCC is a camera that needs a lot more knowhow to work with that a studio camera or prosumer cam that can be set to full or semi automatic!!

I still would like that BMD would release a studio / ENG camera. We will see what the future will bring us..

ANY ccu would be nice (and controllable via metadata in the return sdi feed) .... and then the ability for us dabblers to build our own control panel as I have done in the past.

Just as an FYI, the humble old Sony EX 1 has the ability to be 'CCU'ed using the engineering USB port but Sony won't release the codes as it could affect sales of their more expensive camera's

Can anyone confirm that the signal on SDI - now 50i - BMCC works with ATEM mixer?

Thanks

I can confirm that my BMDCC MFT works at 25fps with overlays off into my ATEM TVS

Kevin, slightly off-topic (apologies to the OP) but are you using two BMCC's for stereo? Or is this for 2D use only?

Just being nosey - have thought about this for ages but pulling my hair about over how to do the sync....

Cheers

Neil
