ATEM Television Studio won’t recognize camera signal

Wondering if the HDMI ports are defective somehow? Or if there’s a firmware update we’re missing for Switchers 7.2?
HDMI cables, multi-view monitor, and camera work fine independently, and laptop OS 10.11.6 correctly recognizes ATEM Software 7.2.
ATEM Television Studio recognizes ATEM Control just fine, blinks lights.
We can switch among camera views.
Camera output matches exact 1080 59.94i as listed in ATEM Control video settings.
Camera’s signal displays correctly by multi-view monitor when plugged in directly.
Color bars appear in Program window when triggered by ATEM control.
More importantly, when HDMI cable is looped from any HDMI Ports to Prog HDMI, color bars appears in the appropriate Camera # window — so the ports recognize some kind of signal, just won’t display camera’s.
What are we missing?
Hate to send back a potentially defective ATEM Television Studio, since the client’s only used it once and got 1 camera (but not multiple) to work many months ago.
Many thanks for any suggestions you all might have!
