Yes there are a few
unusual things with the ATEM implementation of the GVG100 protocol control but everything I have come across was a limitation of the basic protocol itself.
For example, there is a setting you can make to tell the ATEM to
send 'gvg100' status data automatically when something has changed on the ATEM, but it only does it for ME 1 even though the
'EX' byte can provide Mix Effects number information
(as used in the GVG300 implementation).
There is also a lot of extra stuff that the ATEM could have implemented but it seems they limited it to what an
edit controller would need.
My Serial Controller has built in workarounds for most requirements plus the ability to add features as and when (and
if) they get implemented by the ATEM
(eg. DSK2 control, Keyer 1/2 'cut' source etc).
Please remember my initial design for the
Serial Controller for ATEM was to provide a
backup in case of network problems/failures.
But it seems the majority of my sales have been for people to use it as a small
10 input hardware control panel for
UNDER $300. Many have also opted for the larger unit.
