Working PCIe Passthrough for DeckLink Cards

PostWed Jan 23, 2019 4:36 pm

Hello!

In case this is of use of anyone, I was able to get VT-d pass through working last night for a DeckLink Mini to a Windows 10 Host. The server is a Dell PowerEdge R710II with a 4c/12t CPU, and 12 Gb RAM. The VM encoded into 1080p30 x.264 without breaking a sweat. This was all done in Proxmox VE.

This has some awesome advantages if my future testing goes. Feel free to ask anything!

I know this post is >4 years old, but I'd also like to do (almost) exactly the same thing:
Passthrough a Decklink Mini Recorder - to a Linux (Xubuntu) host.

In case you (=lilrags16) are reading this:
Would you mind sharing the steps necessary to hand the PCIe device through?

The Proxmox PCIe{/url] as well as [url=https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/PCI_Passthrough]PCI passthrough documentation is mainly focussing on GPUs - and the Decklink cards don't have any kernel driver modules loaded on the VM host.
