Photoshop Plugin

PostTue Feb 19, 2019 5:41 pm

Hey there!

I am trying to export graphics from Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 to the media pool in ATEM Software 7.5. I know that there is a plugin that will allow you to quickly export the images from Photoshop directly to the ATEM switcher; however, the plugin is not available on Photoshop. Needing assistance on how to locate plugin/activate the plugin.

Thanks! :D

If you already have Photoshop installed, then when you install the ATEM software, it installs the plug-in.

You may have to re-boot and re-launch everything for it to show up.

Check page 161-162 of the manual.

This allows you to put stills with Alpha channel in the Media Player for Upstream or Downstream keys.

If you want animated lower thirds, consider using PowerPoint on Windows with the SimpleSupers.com app. Very fast way to update titles/graphics and includes the slide animation.

This might be the answer, at least on a Mac...

The plugin in the folder: Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/Switchers/CS5 needs to get copied to Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2019/Plugins/. Reopen Photoshop and File>Export>ATEM Switcher Media Pool should work!

I know this thread is about a year old but, just a quick FYI...

Upgraded to PS 2021 this morning. Playing around with a few things this afternoon and the 'ATEM Switcher Media Pool' under the Export menu was gone. I had to reinstall the ATEM control software in order to get it back.

can someone tell the name of the plugin? It must be somewhere in my Windows system, apparently not in the right place. When I have the exact name I should find it with a search. I installed the Atem Control software, but there is no export option for Atem in Photoshop.

Edit: the name is Switchers64.8bp. In my case the plugin installation went wrong. There was a folder in Photoshop named 'Plug-insImport-Export'. I just needed to rename it to 'Import-Export' and move it into the 'Plug-ins' folder. Problem solved. But it's strange why this happened.

Install PS (any full version that still works including CS6)
Install ATEM control (which includes the plug-in)
That's it.
You don't need to find anything or do anything extra.

The main thing is install ATEM control after PS. Updating PS doesn't break the plug-in function.

Elements doesn't work AFAIK.

I kept this thread open until I could test it, the plug-in does seem to work with the latest Photoshop Elements. I did have to manually copy the plug-in to the PS Elememts plug-in folder.

I tried this and it still didn't work. Is this plugin supported on an M1 Mac mini running the latest version of adobe cloud?

I have the plugin working on 2 macs (mac pro 2019, intel macbook air) with the latest version of Photoshop, but the plugin does not show up in the export list on my M1 Mac Mini. My guess is it's a problem with M1 macs. Does anyone have it working on an M1?

Before 8.6.4 ATEM software update you had to run Photoshop in Rosetta mode on M1 Macs to have plugin running. 8.6.4 update reportedly brings M1 support, so maybe now this works as expected.

But today I stumbled on another problem. I’ve updated Photoshop to 22.5.1 on my Intel Mac with ATEM Software 8.6.4 and now the plugin does not work. Yes, It’s still present in the /Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2021/Plug-ins/Import-Export/ folder. But it doesn’t work. I recopied it from /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/Switchers/CS5/ folder and still nothing. Anybody has the same issue? (Big Sur 11.6, MacBookPro Retina 13" Early 2015)

I am having this problem as well. It was working with Photoshop Elements, I had put a copy in the "Plugins" folder with the cool icon which is probably meant for users, not the "Required/Plugins/Import-Export" folder.

I am on Windows 10, so this may not be just a Mac thing.

Unfortunately we were making alot of changes to this computer and hadn't updated graphics in a while, so I don't know what versions it stopped working on. I know it was working in January 2021

The current versions that do not work together are:
- ATEM Software Control Version 8.6.4
- Adobe Photoshop Elements Version: 19.0 (20210811.m.158081)

For me the plugin is not working/showing as well.
Macbook Pro with Monterey 2019
2,3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
With driver 8.6.4 and Photoshop 2022 installed

Have tried uninstalling, rebooting, reconnecting etc. without result
On my Windows computer the plugin shows up and works fine.
In the meantime I'm happy with exporting TIFFS for my (simple) graphics (logo, lower 3rd)
Wish I was here to help, but just following for updates/experiences.

I have also lost the export plug-in since upgrading to photoshop 2022. The plugin is in the plugins folder but not appearing in the export menu within photoshop. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? Even fiddling with the clip and gain doesn't quite produce the same results as having a pre-multiplied key. Please help!

Here's how to build these keys manually in Affinity Photo:

Atem pre-multiplied key:

build all of your graphics - fades, glows, transparency, etc. (no limits)
group them together
duplicate the group
disable or deselect the duplicate group

place a solid black layer behind the first group
merge down or flatten so the graphics are rendered against black

Load "selection from layer" from the hidden duplicated group

Create a mask on the flattened black layer using the active selection from the previous step

Export as .png, which will have a "pre-multiplied key" render in it

import to ATEM, and select "pre-multiplied key" to display properly with transparency.

If you are still confused, there is a demo on YouTube from PhotoJoseph on how to do this.
Resolve Studio 17.4.5, Threadripper 24-core, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB NVMe, Nvidia FE RTX 3080 10 GB. ATEM ME ISO.

I do have the same strange problem. On my Intel MacBook Pro it all works fine using Photoshop 2022 and the Atem 8.6.4 software and on my intel iMac 27" the plug in does not show up in Photoshop at all.

Even reinstallation of software and plugin changes nothing.

More info for the Photoshop 2022 missing support…

On my M1 system, the export plugin had automatically been copied during the update to 2022 plugin folder, and the export to Media Pool option is available on my M1 Mac (which is awesome because I didn't even realize that native M1 support came in 8.6.4 until reading this thread).

However on my Intel system, the plugin had not been copied, so I did it manually — but as others have reported, it still does not show up in Photoshop 2022 on Intel export menu.

One notable difference that may or may not be related… Photoshop 2021 is still installed on my M1. No idea why — I didn't do anything manually. Adobe CC just updated to 2022, but it left a completely functional version of 2021 installed. Yet on my Intel Mac, 2021 is gone other than the empty folder, while 2022 is there.

Weird.

Thank you PhotoJoseph!
Your mention of M1 support on 8.6.4 put the pieces together for me.
To make a long story short: All my Macs are Intel. I discovered this problem in November on my 2019 MBP (or maybe before that even). Workaround was using the old 2015 Intel MBP and not upgrade anything. I saw that someone else had downgraded to 8.6.1 and the export plugin worked, so I decided to test.
- Upgraded Photoshop CC this morning (23.1.0) (reinstalled 8.6.4 after, plugin was in the right place, but PS did not show as an export option.)
- I uninstalled BMD Atem 8.6.4
- installed 8.6.3
- copied the 8.6.3 plugin in /Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2021/Plug-ins/Import-Export/ folder to the Desktop (date is Aug 16, 2021)
- uninstalled 8.6.3 - installed 8.6.4
- replaced the 8.6.4 plugin with 8.6.3 plugin from the desktop
Opened Photoshop and the export to Atem Media Pool is there - and works correctly - (tested with an Atem TV Studio HD running 8.1.1)
Running on both 2019 MBP and 2017 iMacPro both Big Sur 11.6.2
For me it was that the 8.6.4 plugin did not communicate with Photoshop

Re: Photoshop Plugin

PostFri Jan 28, 2022 1:33 pm

I thought I had posted on this topic, but I don't know if it's waiting for moderator approval or whatnot, but I was running into the issue with the plug-in not working as well. Through a little more trial and error I got it working and wanted to list what I did here in case it would be helpful to someone else.

I was running the most recent version of Photoshop (23.1.1) and ATEM Software Control (8.6.4), along with a very recent MacOS build (Monterey 12.1). I'm using a Mac Mini (2018), which is an Intel. I had tried downgrading both my Photoshop (20-ish?) and my ATEM Software Control (8.6.3), but that didn't seem to work. I had been going along since last fall just updating Photoshop with the hope it would work, but that just never worked.

I looked closer at a few more messages in this thread, making sure I was using the correctly dated versions of the Plug-In (August 16th, 2021) but that version was not helping. I then decided to downgrade a little further back on the ATEM Software Control, this time back to 8.6.1 as I saw someone else mention. After doing that, the plug in worked! That version of the plug-in is dated to March 25th, 2021. I was then able to upgrade the ATEM Software back to 8.6.4, and watching the plug-in software like a hawk, it never was replaced. I'm not sure why that was, but it is actually working now with the most updated software. I'm going to keep a copy of the March 25th plug-in locally just in case if future updates break it.

Big thanks to the people who weighed in this thread! That "workshopping" of the issue really helped me with my experimentation!

Hi!

I´m using Photoshop Elements, a Mac M1 and a Mini Extreme ISO.
I know, that the plugin isn´t working on PS Elements.
But is there a way or specific settings on saving the .png file, that my Mini Extreme can Key out the Graphics more crisp?
I created a Corner Bug with a Clients Logo and saved this as png. But the edges of that Logo are not crisp.

I record my Streams in ISO and the Logo in Davinci looks great! Much more better than Live on the ATEM.

What can I do?
Any workarounds? Any Programms out there wich are working with the plugin?
Thanks!
Best regards
