HDMI Recorder for live shows

Hi.

I'm in the process of setting up a small music streaming venue. I have 4 cameras going into a Roland V1HD mixer then out from there to a capture card and laptop.

I would like to record what's being streamed. I was thinking of doing it hardware based rather than pc.

Would the Video Assist work in line between the Roland and the capture card? The V1HD output is 1080 50p. Or is there an alternative, don't really need a screen on it as there is one hooked up to the video mixer.

Thanks for the reply.

Is the HDMI out on the Video Assist a straight pass thru? Or would I need a HDMI splitter?

I'm new to video recording, audio I've been doing for years.

It will pass the HDMI yes. Until you hit the play button. Then it becomes an output of the recorder. ;)

I have a Roland V-1HD with 4 JVC GY-HM170 4KCAMs set to HDMI Output 1080i to the roland, then from the Roland, which is set to 1080i and frame rate of 59.94, to a Black Magic Micro Convertor HDMI-SDI and from there to the Black Magic Hyperdeck Mini. I cannot get signal to the deck, no matter how many times I hit record. Any ideas where my break down is?

Guess you have HDCP mode enabled in the Roland V1. Then your HDMI > SDI converter will not do anything.

Turn off HDCP in the roland and it will work. ;)
