Web presenter - no audio when switched to Win 10

PostFri Jul 05, 2019 8:21 pm

Hi, Had a look through but couldn't find anything already posted.

Recently bought a web presenter, all was fine on laptop running windows 8.1 (although the audio was a bit washy) - however had to upgrade to Win 10, installed latest software (1.2), and now no audio on the stream - the presenter is getting audio (on screen meters showing audio stream is being passed through SDI) but when it comes to it being passed via the PC to the stream (Vimeo/Facebook/Skype) there's no audio.

I suspect it's an issue with Wn 10 not allowing the audio to be passed, but can't find any solutions.

Any advice?

Also, whilst I'm here - any advice (if I get it running) regarding the the audio being a bit 'phasey' or washy?

This is a shot in the dark as I don't have a Web Presenter, but when connecting an Ulstrastudio USB3 to Windows 10, we sometimes find that the laptop Sound Settings>Output device changes from "Speakers..." to "Blackmagic...", meaning that we cannot monitor outgoing audio, in this instance from Wirecast software, until we change the output device back to Speakers.

It is a weird PC Windows issue.
Follow these steps:
- Go to Sound Settings
- Scroll down to see your input (it should be on Blackmagic Web Presenter)
- Click Device Properties
- Under "Related Setting" click "Additional device properties"
- A new window opens up with Microphone Properties
- Click on the "Levels" tab.
- Check to see if it is muted! Click on the sound icon to unmute.

It worked for me then I had audio for Skype, Wirecast, OBS or any other service on my PC.
Good luck.
