Does anyone know of or come across a Rack Mount 12V Power Supply Multiple for mini converters? I have a good number of these in the back of a rack and the idea of running them all via 1 PS is a real appeal.

I've not seen one manufactured by other companies. I've made a few myself out of Videohub power supplies. They're not rack mountable, but I find they ziptie nicely under shelves and stuff.

How many Mini Convertors could you run of a Videohub Power Supply?

Yeah I would reckon you could. I'd take caution as that device has a 3A max, which means it can do about 36W. our miniconverters need between 4-8W each (depending on model). HDMI to SDI is lowest, anything with an up/down converter takes more.

So I probably wouldn't put more than 4-5 devices on it.

Thanks Joshua,

There is a 15V version with a Max 5A would that suit better? What are the tollerances of the Mini Convertors?
Are they all 12V or 12-30V

Matt

The Second generation MC's (HDMI to SDI and Analog to SDI) all support a wide voltage input range (12-30). The first generation ones, (all the others) will function properly at LESS THAN 15 volts...it's a pretty static cutoff.

Any Battery Converter has a wide range input as well.

I think there may be a market for this product. Something that allows you to plug in a bunch of converters, screens, etc. without having to make it yourself. Hint, hint forum!

MXR Custom Electronics make a box called a MC403 that is a rack mountable PSU with multiple outputs. Saw a review in SOS and looks OK.
