Please Bring Back Retime Curve option

PostSun Apr 20, 2025 9:51 am

Hi Blackmagic Design Team,

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for the release of DaVinci Resolve 20. The new features and improvements are truly impressive and have significantly enhanced the user experience — I genuinely appreciate the hard work and innovation behind this update.

However, I would like to raise one important issue that has had a major impact on my workflow: the removal of the Retime Curve option from the right-click menu on timeline clips.

As someone who frequently works with speed ramping and timing-based edits, having quick access to the Retime Curve directly from the timeline has been a crucial part of my editing process for years. While I understand there may be new methods introduced to improve flexibility, I strongly believe that keeping the original option as an alternative would benefit many users who are accustomed to the old workflow.

All the new features are fantastic, but I (and likely many others) would greatly appreciate the return of the Retime Curve access as an optional tool — not as a replacement, but as a choice.

Let new things shine,
but the old things don’t have to disappear.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope this suggestion resonates with the development team.

Best regards,
DHETCHAIYAKRITH

I completely agree with my colleague. The previous feature was much more useful, intuitive and easy to use in its old form. In fact, the community in Brazil praised Retime Curves because it was easier to use than the keyframe concept in the Adobe software format. My workflow also lost a lot of agility with the removal of this feature... It was very good, precisely because it was more practical than the concept adopted by Adobe (and now DR 20).

Congratulations on the inclusion of other professional features that now make up DR20.

I also liked the previous version implementation, despite endless complaint from many users, I felt it was easy to use, easy to apply. It had clever implementation of position and timing with only few sliders and with auto keyframing it was very quick to use. So I would also like to see it as an option for users who want it. But I can understand if Blackamgic on their own initiative or because so many noise on forums decided to go in a completely differnt direction.

That’s another big issue — the new keyframe editor is so good, but the implementation is really poor.

As I mentioned earlier in this forum, this update also removed the ability to edit keyframes across multiple clips, which is a major step backward.

Can someone tell me where the retime curve now is? Is it gone completely? This makes no sense. The keyframes editor shows the speed but I see no way of setting a curve to the keys

I also want the previous keyframe editor back... That's all.
The previous editor was easy to use. Although it had some quirks, overall it got the job done.

I just want to know how we are supposed to use it now. I eventually found it but my God it's an ordeal to get to it now. Why the keyframes aren't on a curve by default is beyond me. Why would anyone ever not ramp their speed up and down?
