Magic Mask 2 bug with retimed clips

PostWed May 21, 2025 11:43 pm

When applying and editing Magic Mask 2 on clips with retiming, like a simple speed change, the playhead jumps around erratically inside the Color page, and even slips off/deselects the clip entirely and unexpectedly.

For example, I have a clip retimed to 80% speed and apply a Click at the first frame. Immediately the playhead skips back a frame, the clip I'm working on is dropped from the Viewer and deselected in the Timeline. The same happens when tracking, forward or backward, as the playhead passes beyond the end of the retimed clip.

I assume the playhead is landing on the nearest frame of the source clip, which happens to be outside of the confines of the retimed timeline clip.

This behaviour did not occur in DVR 19, but does occur when using the legacy Magic Mask tool in the 20 beta.

Related, when retimed with optical flow the last frames are masked but don't correctly take on the colour settings of the mask, at 120%(seen in video) the last frame is not correct, at 50% the last 2 frames were not correct. The colour setting for the mask was Gamma 0.08, Colorboost -100

Yeah, I’ve seen this many times, also in Resolve 19. My workaround is just moving the next clip to a track above, and then extend the retimed clip a few frames. Would be nice to have a bugfix for that.
