Lenses for EF ?

PostTue Dec 05, 2023 6:37 am

I'm currently running a BMPCC4K with SLR Magic Microprime lenses, and reasonably happy.

I have a potential offer of a used Ursa B-cast G2, and I am wondering, if using that together with the BMPCC4K and Microprimes, what modestly priced cine lenses would be considered for the G2?

Alright, I see what you want. Here are the suggestions that come to mind right away: Rokinon, Meike ,and Viltrox Lenses.

Rokinon is more about the balance between quality and affordability. Their image quality is quite impressive for their price point.
Meike are relatively new in the market but have been getting positive reviews for their performance and build quality.
Viltrox have a range of good EF-mount lenses with decent optical performance.

Also, here's a great article at https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/cinema-lenses-for-beginners/ about affordable cinema lenses. They talk about more interesting options. I'd suggest to pick a lens based on your specific needs like focal length preferences and aperture requirements.

Cheers!

I've of course seen the Rokinon lenses, but never had one to try.

The Rokinon 12mm T/2.2 (=F/2.0) Cine NCS CS has a modern look.

Here is a comparison of it against a Voigtlander 17.5mm on a BMPCC 4K:
