Is there a problem with non-powered docks?

PostSat Dec 14, 2013 11:28 pm

Hey!

Two out of three SSD's are broken. 480GB Sandisk Extreme ones.

As the title says, is there a problem with non-powered docks? I mean, the docks which are powered with only a USB.

There can be lots of things, but since this has happened twice, and my SSD's are the most recommended, I assume that something here has gone wrong.

Thanks, Iver.

This would depend on the dock and Computer power to USB connection. I had an IMAC that could NOT USE A NON POWERED Dock, power supply was not able to provide correct power requirement. Powered docks are recommended, and the Hyperdeck instructions required powered docks for SSD best results.
I think camera use would follow, especially with the larger drives, they use more power.
