Newbie Help Needed with BM 6K Pro

PostWed Jun 05, 2024 5:03 pm

Hi all, I am new to video and decided to get myself a Blackmagic 6K Pro. The guy I got it from gave me a Sigma 18-35 Lens. The lens works as expected and the iris and autofocus all work fine.

So, I decided to get a Cine lens and I found a Samyang 35mm Cine lens for £150 on ebay.

I set it up but the iris controls on the camera aren't working and its not showing the iris on the BM screen.

Is this normal, any ideas would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Andy

Hi. Maybe it's a manual lens?

If I'm not mistaken the Samyang is exactly the same lens as the Rokinon just rebranded. I think I used to know why but cannot remember. These are manual lenses with no electronics at all. That's why you don.t see the aperture reading as you do with the Sigma. Likely your camera is working just as it should.

ah ok, i thought manual applied just to the focus.

Ok that makes sense because it is manual.

Many thanks
