Huge delay at power-on

PostSat Dec 28, 2013 10:33 am

Hi all,
When I press the power button on BMPCC it takes sometimes very long until the LCD screen works. I cannot know if other functions launch or not because the LCD shows nothing for a while. With huge delay I mean times between 30 sec to 1'45" min. But sometimes -only at the third-fourth attempt, never at the first try- the LCD works just after you release the power button. AC power or battery doesn't change the situation. Is my camera defect or is there something I can do? Does anybody else has the same problem?
Thanks ahead for help

Sounds like you need to send it back.

That is definitely not normal. The Pocket cam is ready to shoot in a matter of seconds, i've never seen different.

Do you have the latest firmware?

I had 1.5 and upgraded it to 1.5.1. No change.

Then this is a hardware problem for sure, get in contact with BM or your vendor.

Try to contact your local BM office first, i hear they've been very helpfull in similar cases; if you have to go through your vendor, at least german customers rights are very helpfull.

Any resolution to this?

I just received my BMPCC (also from Germany) and the display does not switch on, at all. The camera itself appears functional though.

Maybe you can try to power on without the card, just to discard things

I will send it back to the company where I've buyed it. The defect is related to the LCD screen. If you connect f.e. a Ninja recorder or a monitor to the camera, you have the picture on these devices just right after powering up the BMPCC. Not a second. But the waiting time for the LCD can reach 2 minutes!
...So you're not alone - me too. (And we both have purchased the camera from germany?!)
(Beside of this bug, the camera is one of the most excellent innovations in the history of mankind:) I mean it!)
