R19 Beta 4 Fairlight DolbyAtmos Binaural Rendering Bug

PostFri Jul 12, 2024 2:12 pm

I think there's a bug when using Stereo or Binaural Format for Dolby Atmos Clips. For example when following the steps of the Surround chapter in the offical Fairlight Courseware PDF.

When changing the Clip format of a Dolby Atmos Clip to Binaural when the clip is already in the timeline, the stereo panorama will be shifted to the left channel for some reason.

I recored a short video for further explanation:

Addition:
a) Tested on Windows and MacOS, behaves the same.
b) Crosstested Binaural Rendering of the clip with another software (Studio One) were this problems does not occur

In the example of the 'error' that you see, have you panned the audio?

Hi Peter,

no, Audio wasn't panned.

I have also been able to reproduce it on several computers and operating systems with the “Natures Fury.wav” from the Fairlight Courseware.

With another software for binaural playback (Presonus Studio One), the error did not occur. Panning was not altered there.
