Custom Column Layouts:Monitor-layout dependent? Stored where

PostMon Mar 27, 2023 11:14 pm

I've always had issues with Custom Column Layouts disappearing on me but now that I'm on a laptop, so use Resolve in a variety of setups (lid closed and dual external monitor, lid open + one monitor, or laptop display only), I've realized that my Custom Column Layouts appear to only appear on the monitor layout they were created in!

Here's my custom layouts in one setup…

And my layouts in another!

Uh, wha??

And so the question related to that is… where are these layouts stored? I've lost them before, and I'd love to back them up, and maybe even figure out how to get them to load in multiple layouts.

Too bad you never got an answer. I have the same problem, and I wish the column layouts didn't disappear. It costs time to have to remake them each time.

Cheers,

Actually I did figure out something. If you save the layout then it seems these presets get saved with them! However the column layouts are unique to a window layout. Which makes no sense but at lease once I started saving window layouts, these column layouts started saving, too.

I'm here after creating a bunch of new Column Layouts, updating from 19.0 to 19.0.1 only to find they've all disappeared. Then, by chance, I changed my Workspace Layout Preset, and there's a bunch of Column Layouts that I created maybe 2 years ago!

I've just searched the Resolve manual and there's a bunch of references to saving custom Column Layouts, but I didn't find anything relating to them being saved with Layout Presets, and it's annoying that the default Workspace Layout doesn't seem to store Column Layouts that persist between versions.

Wow that's wild. Yeah I think this is a glitch.

hi folks, i am troubled with the same issues for some time now as well. I (re)created the bin column layouts several times now. I can't figure out a pattern when they got lost. At first I thougt its when I upgrade the version but now it happens every now and then when working with different projects.
As you said its annoying and costs time every time to rebuild them. I'd really like the devs to look into this.
Would be nice to backup them and restore them, could be on finder level as well. No problem with that. Doing this with templates already.

It's definitely still problematic however I found what seems to be a workaround solution, shared a few post up: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=178332&p=1145173#p1077789
