Chris Leutger wrote:Good overview, Flo. It validated my purchase of the BMCC6K. I guesstimated that the Pyxis would be just a little too big back in May. When the sale happened I jumped on that and now that the Pyxis is here I'm glad. I always appreciate your low key and informational style. It's nice how you lay things out.
I have found that the BMCC6K fits in my hand perfectly for carrying with a strap, a cine-saddle and fits easily into and out of my bag for on the go shots. As Cine Dailies pointed out on youtube, carrying this in urban areas looks more like a dslr and therefore doesn't shout out, "Look at me, I'm a cinematographer with expensive gear!" I've been shooting in fentanyl addled areas and people barely pay attention to me. And thankfully, not buying the Pyxis means that the oh-so very sexy viewfinder didn't wink at my pocket book. The one thing I do like about the Pyxis over the BMCC6K is the side mounted display. When on a tripod that's where I stand and that screen would have been perfect for me. I'll live.
Now, instead of the daily, "Is Pyxis here yet? Is it here yet?" threads on the internet, people will be asking those oh so relevant questions that I've seen on reddit. Like, "Does it need a lens? My footage is black. Flo was using his without a lens!" And I'm sure we'll see people posting how it's got miles better image quality than the BMCC6K. It does have some differences already. And time marches on. Sigh.
Glad you liked the video Chris, and thanks for the overall positive feedback on my work!
And I totally with the 6KFF being much better in cities etc. I still intend to use my 6KFF for travels and run and gun work like I have done for the past 10 years with the pocket line!
The Pyxis really is a doco cam for me and one to rig up! Great combo

And yes haha you are right about the incoming comments!
