Arri Ensō Primes Lenses in LPL

PostWed Oct 16, 2024 1:56 am

Whoa! These are pretty nice lenses. They basically come in LPL only and are very modern. But that whole LDS 2 bit of info means they are going to pair nicely with the URSA Cine. Can't wait to see footage of them paired with the UCine12K.

Yeah, I don't understand how Arri considers that "affordable" as they claim in their videos. But I guess that premium engineering comes at a cost. They may be an affordable rental... sort of.

I guess when the six lens set costs less than the camera ARRI expects you to mount them on such as the Alexa 35, that defines affordability.

As for the rest of us, we follow the same guidelines when considering the lenses for various recent BMD cameras. Someone who has just purchased the URSA Cine 12K LF, may be considering a lens set within that camera’s cost affordable.

Affordable is always going to be assumed to be better than any old budget lens, but all tastes in lenses are welcome if they suit the character of the look being sought.

No quotes necessary; affordability means something different to different tiers of the industry. If you run a commercial production company or are starting your own rental house, owning a set of lenses like this for that price is an appealing value proposition. If you shoot corporates or short films with your friends then you’ll never get your money’s worth out of them.
