I’m recalling that one of the BMD representatives said the new lightweight monitor was developed as an alternate for the URSA Cine EVF as not every shooting situation is going to be able to use the Cine EVF and the monitor could be another screen with the means of controlling the Cine camera. But they soon realized the potential for the new monitor would be even better suited to the Pyxis which can also use the Cine EVF.
I expect many Pyxis purchases will also include the Pyxis Monitor Kit. Some people feel the Kit mount is highly priced, but the engineering of the Pyxis mount looks extremely well thought out. I’ve seen other mounts that are definitely a savings for those who are looking for a simpler solution but I trust that the Pyxis mount is a durable, very flexible, and worthwhile expenditure.
For those who use the Pyxis Monitor, one must consider the B-mount with the largest battery capacity available. As mentioned, if you’re shooting outdoors, 1500 nits will require significantly more energy than shooting at 500 nits or much lower which is adequate for indoor shooting.
