Shot this for fun today. The makings of a spinach mushroom omelette.
BMPCC, Sigma 1.8 18-35mm and I think one shot from slr magic 12mm 1.6

Enjoy.

Another one test video with my Bmcc Ef. All the shots are raw. Sorry for the shake handheld shots and dirty lens but it was a difficult full of dust environment .

Hey everyone.
I did a time lapse back in September at the Grand Canyon filming 1 frame every 30 seconds.
Did a bit of color grading in FCX, but I thought it turned out okay.

Short wild bird montage shot on the Pocket with the Panasonic 100-300 lens (in Prores).
Such a beginner at shooting, editing, grading (my first 'real' public effort).... sometimes the windshake overwhelmed the IS on the lens on the tripod. A stiff pan sadly evident (have a fluid head now). I find it hard to be a good judge of the light temperature to set on the Pocket as well.
As others have mentioned it seems Vimeo seems to drop down the exposure level a tiny bit but the original file is downloadable. I find it most noticeable in the first shot with the ducks too dark against the water.

I used Nick Shaw's beta FCPX BM LUT and grading tools in FCPX.

I was DP on a Louisville documentary that focused on retired actors now running a bourbon ball business.
One of my ECUs. Here's a screen shot of the cutaway.

No color grading on this shot. This was with the BMCC 2.5k with a Zeiss 85mm planar.

This is another RAW screen still from footage while I was traveling from the Grand Canyon to Zion National Park in September of 2013. There was a big VW convention happening, so I decided to take a quick break and film some nature and VW bus footage.
No color correction.
I believe I had my 10-20mm Sigma lens and ASA of 800.

Still from a cancer benefit in Rockford, IL (where the AHL Icehogs play). Ceremonial puck drop.
The girls in the photo lost their father to pancreatic cancer, and the gentleman on the right is a cancer survivor. I shot this with the BMCC 2.5 and a 7D and will have the edit ready in February.

We were able to borrow a local university's Arrilite 1K's for the black and white screencap. The color screencaps are scenes lit with cheap halogen construction work lights.

Hi
Here is the first complete video Ive shot.

All done with BMCC, no budget and one camera.
Lens was a Tokina 11-16.
All edited and coloured in FCX.

Had a nightmare with fast fading natural light…but over all a great experience.

The track is from a upcoming projectIm involved with.
Its a cover of a song form The Wicker Man.

No lie, that's one of my favorite songs (from one of my favorite movies), and this cover is exceptionally good (almost as good as the Sneaker Pimps cover). Music video is very nice. I would've liked more wide shots of that gorgeous location, though. Great job!

Hi Jason
Thanks for your kind comments.
Yes the place is a old haunted house.
The light caught us out. We only had the place for a few hours and had a lot to do.
We shot the singer 1st, then the outside and the interiors at night ( THAT was scary !!)

The song I love and the female singer Angharad is fab.

Music is my main thing, and Ive always loved this song ( and the film).
Hope we do it justice.

The BMCC was a pleasure to use.It handled good in such low light. The Tokina was OK, only 2.8
So we had to shoot some of it at 1600iso, which was a shame. But it adds to that 1970's look.

Thanks

There's something about working fast and on your feet that propels our creativity and there is NOTHING like a fading sun to get a crew moving! I really like the horror bits. It looked like you were making up shots as you went along (I'm applauding the spontaneity), whatever felt right; i really liked the kids disappearing in the hallway and that head turn when the door shut. The trembling gun scene was nice. I love that the night watchmen wouldn't have any of it. "I'm not going in there mate" lol

Hi all!!

Since 01-01-2014 I started my new company. After 10 years having Mirada Media and JoasCamera.nl as my company, I decided to stop making company films, and fully concentrate at my freelance jobs.

Now my company is called One Shot. And of course with a new name, I have a new website, and on this new website, there is an new showreel! And of course this showreel is filled with BMCC EF shots :D!

Just some shots are made with the Canon 5D Mark II (Helikopter shots and the 'running guy' shots). The rest is all BMCC!

Enjoy watching:

www.oneshot.tv

(Website is Dutch, but there is an english flag on the top right corner so you can also see my website in english!!)
Greetings,

Joas

Hey check out my short film "Meathead goes Hog Wild"

It was shot on the BMPCC entirely with RAW
the lens was the Panasonic 14mm

it's a funny absurdist comedy that was shot in a day to test the RAW

So cool!
Did you record audio into the BMPCC ?

Enjoyed "Cleaning up the Streets", too. Your philosophy reminds me of Jim Jarmusch's early work...

Thanks so much, we definitely look at Jarmusch as an inspiration.
We recorded audio from a zoom H4n and then synced it in post

We just finished our first short on BMCC. Those who have facebook account can view some stills (quick grade/contrast adjustment) here:

https://www.facebook.com/fus.wojtek/med ... 627&type=1

We tend to shot 200 ASA Raw for best quality, there's a lot of chroma noise in blacks above that level from time to time, and I really do like to underexpose some areas of the frame to have greater contrast.

This camera can be really sharp and filmic, but you have to learn to control its black magic powers...

Vimeo:

USA Daytime with the Talk Stoop host has been shooting on BMCCs for a while now. This was a little self contained piece I could put up. Cut and graded pretty quickly.

You can see more here: http://www.usanetwork.com/usadaytime
Though a lot of those have pretty serious grading issues... I wasn't involved in post on those, just production.

Definitely anxiously awaiting any update as it will almost definitely alleviate some production woes we have. I for one am thrilled with the image we end up with though.

pulala, I really like it.
You did the one previously with 3 people right?
The ground shots are really cool. We see so many shoulder height shots here. The lake/mountains/crackly ground just work soooo well together.

Where is it?

I would love to see a more thematic production. You could definitely do a powerful story on that backdrop.

Hello Joshman , thanks for the reply. Yes i did the previous with the 3 people in the same place.
We are in Greece and the place is Karla lake near Volos city.
I agree that we could make a more powerful story and i have a lot of plans for this wonderful lake for the future. This video was just a school assignment for our friend who design the costumes and we create it just in few hours and with no preparation at all. Sorry for my bad English :-) Again thanks for the feedback cheers.

This is a long trailer of this pilot. With this trailer we are going to television-stations for selling the new series.

The trailer:

Of course all shot with the BMCC EF (original in RAW).

Enjoy watching :)!

This was a really quick RAW test with our BMCC EF. Shot with a Tokina 11-16mm and a Canon 50mm 1.8, the footage was batch graded in Aperture and then I applied grain with Filmconvert Pro.

This was my first attempt at RAW and I failed to realize that my PC's graphics card couldn't handle Resolve with RAW. I think Aperture did ok considering.

Here is my last video.

I'd like to have some feedbacks please : Technical, grading, story. Thanks. As you know when someone tells you what you're doing is bad, it's a great thing to progress (to prores... ... )

Shot in RAW all the way. Don't like to edit prores as i can't open the the files with camera raw... and i don't know how to use Resolve. I'm not really fond of this software... sorry... Too Colorista'ed for a long time.

Some beautifiul shots there. I really like the story and the grading. I think the colors look natural, perhaps I'd add a little more contrast in the mids-blacks here and there, like 00:47. What struck me a bit, on the negative side, is lens softness on the macro/extreme close up of the crayon, and the sound quality. I think you should step down to f3.5 or f4 on the close up, and use more eq and compression to the off screen voice to give it more punch, and elevate it more over the music...... And the cellist was mediocre, but that's none of your DOP buisness I guess, lol :D Please don't get me wrong when I focus on the negative, I tend to do that, though I liked it.

You can check out my latest (directed) short film here, shot on bmcc 2,5k raw. It's in Polish, but most you see on the net that is shot on the bmc, is tests and commercials, so here you can view some lit, controlled environment shots, even if low budget. just ignore the sparse polish dialogue

sadly, we pushed the camera too far with low light situations a few times

really love your piece, very clever , subtle and very conected.

Here's a dog rescue shoot where I had to mix a lot of GoPro and BMCC footage.

I'm really happy with the last helicopter shot, but a week after I shot this I broke the gimbal by trying to change the pitch in that BGC controller software : \

Here's a quick short we did for fun with the BMCC and the pocket. Teamup with Anamorphic Baby and Iscorama lenses, the cameras are rock stars!

Loving the aesthetic of the light and colour, really wonderful piece. Some of the early shots 'seem' to be displaying rolling shutter/shakiness that's had warp stabiliser applied to it. It's subtle but it looks a bit odd.
