May I bring this thread up again? I have to use my ATEM in very quiet environments and louder fan noises are disturbing. I used to use an old ATEM Production Studio 4K, where I made a fan mod myself, which was nice and quiet then.
I also use a HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro, which is quiet enough.
Now I'm about to upgrade to a new 2 M/E Constellation. The HD version is actually enough for me, but I've now ordered the 4K version to be future-proof. I received it today and connected it up for the first time. The two small fans on the left are far too loud for my purpose.
I read a lot of reviews when the ATEM 2 M/E Constellation HD came out. Everyone agreed that it was very quiet. There are no reviews of the newer 4K version mentioning fan noise, apart from this forum entry. But it would make sense that the 4K with more processing power (140W power consumption) is louder than the HD (52W power consumption).
Question, is the HD really quieter than the 4K?
And has anyone made a fan mod for the 2 M/E Constellation 4K yet? In other words, have you removed/unpluged the two small internal fans on the left and made two large openings on the top of the ATEM above the internal cooling and fitted two large low-speed fans with an external power supply? (2-he rack space)
