No sound!? UltraStudio recorder 3G and MacOS

Hello,
is sound supposedly be coming from the capture card if I choose sound input to be the card?



If I play sound on the remote pc (sound directed to the BMD card), no sound is coming on the local side. No indication on the input level either.

However, If I start either OBS, Media Express or Quicktime player, the input level shows input sound immediately (and I can hear it/play it locally). As soon as I close the app, the sound disappears. I thought I could use the capture card as a sound card. Have I got this wrong? Or how do I set it up?

Yeah, that tracks. The IO on these devices is software dependent and isn’t really available at the OS level. Example, one can playout a QT movie with the box but it can’t be used to extend the desktop or play system sounds. If one is trying to use a BM capture card with Apple lifestyle apps they may have to write bespoke extensions, for most pro AV apps, support already exists.

Ok, I am trying to use another software - Unity Intercom (unityintercom.com), to capture sound through the card. Although this SW is actually recognising my card as an input for sound, somehow it "lacks" some additional logic to pick out the sound as OBS and Quicktime etc. are doing(?)

It pretty much behaves as described in my earlier post: no sound until I additionally start OBS, QT etc.

This is probably off-topic, but does any have some pointers as to use Unity Intercome with BMD capture card?
