Dealing with special characters (from Mac) on PC

PostMon Jun 09, 2025 6:59 am

I had to move a project, that originated from Prem Pro on Mac, to a PC.

Collecting the media was pretty easy (exported a list of files used using Listify extension in PP, wrangled in spreadsheet then used FreeFileSync to copy just those files).

Change Source folder then worked for the most part - but fails on files with special characters that work in Mac but not PC (e.g. * and 'British Flag icon' were 2 of the characters they'd used!)

Anyone have a method/idea to quickly deal with this?

(I guess I could've used Resolve to media manage - I tried project manager in PP on the original project but it failed & I had limited time to get this done)

Not personally no!

But inherited Premiere Pro Project has all sorts of weird characters in the file names...
