Blackmagic Design today announced that Odd Socks Productions, a New Zealand based production company, has been using Blackmagic Design cameras, including the new full frame Blackmagic PYXIS 6K digital film camera, and DaVinci Resolve Studio editing, color grading, visual effects (VFX) and audio post production software to produce visually stunning live DJ performances in some of the country’s most breathtaking locations. Combining high end cinematography with the vibrant energy of live music, Odd Socks Productions is bringing a fresh perspective to music content creation.
Founded by cinematographer Daryl Habraken and producer Yvie Harvie-Salter, Odd Socks Productions, through its REDLINING brand and YouTube channel, specializes in creating and distributing high quality music and cultural content. Habraken, whose credits include work on "The Last Samurai" and the “Power Rangers” franchise, sought to elevate the representation of New Zealand’s electronic music scene by producing immersive, cinematic DJ performances filmed in spectacular outdoor settings.
Habraken explained: “We were inspired by international YouTube channels that showcase live DJ sets against incredible backdrops, and we realized there was nothing like that representing New Zealand. With our stunning landscapes and rich talent pool, it made perfect sense to start something similar here.”
