Here is my last video.
I'd like to have some feedbacks please : Technical, grading, story. Thanks. As you know when someone tells you what you're doing is bad, it's a great thing to progress (to prores...
...
)
Shot in RAW all the way. Don't like to edit prores as i can't open the the files with camera raw... and i don't know how to use Resolve. I'm not really fond of this software... sorry... Too Colorista'ed for a long time.
Some beautifiul shots there. I really like the story and the grading. I think the colors look natural, perhaps I'd add a little more contrast in the mids-blacks here and there, like 00:47. What struck me a bit, on the negative side, is lens softness on the macro/extreme close up of the crayon, and the sound quality. I think you should step down to f3.5 or f4 on the close up, and use more eq and compression to the off screen voice to give it more punch, and elevate it more over the music...... And the cellist was mediocre, but that's none of your DOP buisness I guess, lol
Please don't get me wrong when I focus on the negative, I tend to do that, though I liked it.
You can check out my latest (directed) short film here, shot on bmcc 2,5k raw. It's in Polish, but most you see on the net that is shot on the bmc, is tests and commercials, so here you can view some lit, controlled environment shots, even if low budget. just ignore the sparse polish dialogue
sadly, we pushed the camera too far with low light situations a few times
